Lina Kazakova, born in 1972 in Minsk, Belarus. Studied journalism at the Belarusian State University. She received her master’s degree in culturology and gender studies from the European Humanities University in Vilnius. She later taught literary writing at the Belarusian university operating in exile. Kazakova is the author of the poetry collection Rukavica (Bybooks 2013) and numerous culturological publications. Her poetry has also been published in numerous almanacs and anthologies in Belarus. With each poem, her lyrical self traverses a day or a stage of life, reflecting on ever collapsing certainties and ambivalences of belonging and foreignness. Kazakova lives in Portland (Oregon, USA).
