Vladimir Karparov, born and raised in Sofia in 1977, discovered music at an early age, influenced mainly by classical music and by his older brother – pianist and composer Svetoslav Karparov. Vladimir started playing saxophone when he was 12 years old, in the youth brass band Boteva Cheta. Shortly after the reunification in 1989 and during his school years at the French Gymnasium Alphonse de Lamartine in Sofia, Vladimir often played as a street musician. In doing so, he developed his improvisational skills while deepening his passion for music. His most recent release was Antihypocrisyl (2016). Vladimir is currently working on his new CDs with the V. Karparov Quartet, the Balkan Spirit Ensemble and the Forkolor Saxophone Quartet, which will be released in 2022. Awarded by the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, Medica pro Musica and Jazz Festival Monaco, among others.
