Lahav, Hilà

Hilà Lahav, poet and musician, was born in 1985. Lahav studied history at the Hebrew University and recorder at the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. From 2005 to the present, Lahav’s poems have appeared regularly in the Israeli literary magazines Mita’am and Ho. In 2016, she received the prestigious Levi Eshkol Literary Prize for her poetic achievements. She debuted in 2011 with her poetry collection Soul. This was followed by Until the Morning (2014) and Wooden Roof (2019). Lahav’s writing has been translated into Italian, English, Arabic, German, and Spanish, among other languages. As a musician, Lahav is a founder and contributor to numerous ensembles. Ancient and contemporary music, as well as classical Turkish, Arabic and Andalusian music make up her repertoire. She performs on the ney and on historical wind instruments. She has been teaching music since 2007 and is involved in initiatives that promote education, politics and social participation.
