Leopold von Verschuer, born in Brussels in 1961, is an actor, director and translator in German and French. His preference is for “weird” texts. A long collaboration connects him with the authors Valère Novarina and Kathrin Röggla. His translations are published by Alexander Verlag and Matthes & Seitz. He has performed and/or directed in Berlin, Mülheim, Cologne, Paris, Avignon, Stuttgart, Lisbon, Düsseldorf, Graz, Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne, Vienna, Réunion and Chicago, and does radio plays for Bayrischer Rundfunk, HR and Deutschlandfunk. For the poesiefestival berlin he staged Whitman’s Leaves of Grass in 2019, a Torah-Bible-Koran evening in 2015, Hilbig’s Prosa meiner Heimatstraße in 2013, Pasolini’s Dunckler Enthusiasmo in 2010 and Les Murrays Fredy Neptune in 2009.
