Thomas Böhme, born in Leipzig in 1955, began studying to be a teacher in Greifswald in 1976, was exmatriculated in 1977 for political reasons, then worked in the Leipzig Music Library and as an advertising editor at the publishing house Edition Leipzig. Distance learning at the J.R. Becher Literature Institute in Leipzig. Böhme made his debut in 1983 with the poetry collection Mit der Sanduhr am Gürtel, published by Aufbau-Verlag Berlin und Weimar. Since then, more than 20 books have been released by various publishing houses. From 1985 onwards, Böhme worked as a freelance writer. From 1992-1997 he participated in the Freie Hand project of the educational association Arbeit und Leben in Halle and Magdeburg. During this time, he created a Mansfeld project together with the artists Rosemarie and Klaus Ullrich (Topographien einer Wundvermessung) and several plays with the Hanns Eisler Gymnasium Halle.
